January 21, 2009 – Charlotte, NC – An exciting learning experience will be available to school district administrators and managers across the United States through the efforts of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), Mariner and Microsoft. Through a web series beginning February 3rd, the team will share how they developed a District Data Dashboard to support their student achievement and operational objectives. Presented in four 30-minute sessions, these meetings are designed to give key decision makers information they need to consider to implement similar dashboards within their own districts.

The series, taking place on the first Tuesdays of February, March, April and May, puts CMS’s Data Dashboard on display for other district leaders to observe and analyze. Each session describes the dashboard from a different perspective so that participants can understand the different ways the dashboard is used and how it benefits administrators, teachers, parents, students and the community at large. Leaders for each session include senior managers from CMS’s Accountability, IT, Curriculum, and Communications departments. Each web series session will articulate innovative aspects of the solutions and illustrate the significant effect it is having s on how the district is teaching its children and communicating with the all of the district’s constituents.

As one of the country’s largest school districts, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is spearheading this opportunity to share what it has learned through the development of its Data Dashboard. This is one of the first instances where private industry performance management techniques and technology has been applied to improving student achievement and operational goals in the K-12 environment.

District managers of all levels are encouraged to participate in the Series to gain insight into the revolutionary website and witness, first-hand, the positive results that CMS is experiencing. Sessions are geared for Superintendents and Deputy Superintendents, Accountability Officers, Curriculum Officers, Principals, Central Office Administrators, Communications Officers, Information Officers and their direct reports.
